Jama Masjid is situated in the Capital of India New Delhi, and it is one of the largest mosques in India. The construction of Jama Masjid was completed during 1644-1656 A.D with cost of 1 million rupees. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan who also constructed Taj Mahal and Red Fort of New Delhi. Jama Masjid can occupy 25000 people in its massive courtyard and worship together.
Jama Masjid houses three grand gates, four towers and two 40 meters high minarets constructed of strips of red sandstone and white marble. There are three intricate domes on the terrace which are surrounded by the two exquisite minarets. On the floor, a total of 899 black borders are marked for worshippers.
The mosque has been attacked two times in 2006 and 2010.
