Orchha Palace in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh

Orchha Palace or Orchha Fort Complex is situated in Orchha town of Madhya Pradesh State of India. Orchha Palace encompasses large number of old monuments such as Palaces, Temples and other structures within its boundaries. The massive Fort was built by Bundela Rajputs, which was initiated in 16th century by King Rudra Pratap Singh and other Rajputs followed by him.

The Palatial Fort has large getaway, courtyards, decorated windows, graceful balconies, intricate pavilions and open flat areas. The Orchha Palace is located at the confluence of Betwa River and Jamni River in Orchha town. The fort houses Raja Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Jahangir Mahal, Temples and gardens.

Orchha Palace is one of the tourist destinations of Madhya Pradesh and many visitors explore the beauty and history of Orchha across from the world. To reach the destination nearest Airport is Gwalior airport, nearest Railway Station is of Jhansi and one can easily access through Road transport. The famous monuments of Orchha Palace are mentioned below :-

Raja Mahal - this Mahal was residence of King and the queens till 1783, it has impeccable interior with rich royal architecture and decorated with murals of religious theme of God. Some Part of Raj Mahal is converted to Temple known as Ram Raja Temple.

Sheeh Mahal - it was also a royal residence built for King Udait Singh, beautiful interior attracts everyone. Now it is converted in Hotel.

Jahangir Mahal - it was built by Vir Singh Deo in 1605. The mahal is mixture of Mughal and Rajput architecture it has symmetrical square built in the inner courtyard of the fort and has eight large domes. The Mughal emperor Shah Jahan was guest of Maharaja for one night.

Phool Bagh - it is glorious garden with a line of water fountains. Below this garden there is underground royal residence which was cool summer retreat of family members.
