Kodaikanal Sightseeing Places in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu

Kodaikanal is home to many beautiful and picturesque natural attractions which are very famous and visited by many tourists throughout the year. Many such destinations are mentioned below :-

Kodaikanal Lake - it is an artificial Lake spread over 60 acres and built in 1863. This is famous landmark of Kodaikanal city. 5 km long path along the Lake is the favourite walk for tourists and locallites.

Bryant Park - it is well-maintained botanical garden, planned and built in 1908 by a forest officer from Madurai, H.D.Bryant, and named after him. Park houses vibrant flowers, various trees with 325 species, it organizes horticultural exhibits and flower shows every summer.

Coaker’s Walk - it is paved pedestrian path running along the edge of steep slopes. It offers stunning breathtaking views on a clear sunny day.

Bear Shola Falls - it is tall waterfall in a Reserve Forest.

Green Valley View - it is an excellent panoramic view of the plains and a sheer drop of 1,500 metres overlooking the Vaigai Dam to the south. The stairway leading up to it is highly commercialized and lined with rows of shops to tempt tourists.

Shembaganur Museum - it is museum of Natural history founded in 1895 and offers extraordinary collection of more than 500 species of animals, birds and insects and a living collection of over 300 exotic orchid species.

Pillar Rocks - it is a set of three giant Rock pillars standing 122 meters high. This is beautiful site and attracts many tourist, adjacent to it is a public garden.

Guna Caves - these are deep bat-infested chambers between the three gigantic boulders that are the Pillar Rocks. This place is restricted for public due to dangerous incidents.

Silver Cascade - it is a 55-metre waterfall formed from the outflow of Kodaikanal Lake.

Dolphin’s Nose - it is flat rock projecting over a breathtaking chasm 6,600 feet deep. It is an undisturbed area 1 kilometre down a very steep rocky trail beginning soon after Pambar Bridge. Panoramic views can be enjoyed from this place.

Kurinji Andavar Murugan Temple - it is Hindu Temple dedicated to deity Sri Kurinji, who is the Lord of Murugan temple was built by European lady in 1936. It is famous for its Kurinji flower which blossoms in the area only once every 12 years.

Berijam Lake - it is another lake in Kodaikanal located 20 km from the city and surmounted by nature’s beauty and tranquility.
