Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan

Umaid Bhawan Palace is one of the world’s largest private residences located in Jodhpur of Rajasthan. The Palace is named after Maharaja Umaid Singh, grandfather of present owner of the Palace Gaj Singh. The Palace houses exclusive 347 room serves as the Residence of Jodhpur Royal family. Umaid Bhawan Palace is managed by Taj Hotels.

The History about this grandiose & stunning Palace is that it was built to provide employment to thousands of people during the time of famine. As in 1920s Jodhpur faced severe drought and famine so Maharaja Umaid Singh decided to build the Palace, it was started in 1929 completed in 1943.

The Lavish mansion consists of three parts-
1. The residence of Royal family
2. A luxurious Taj Palace Hotel
3. Museum

Palace is built with sandstone and marble giving intricate architecture and lavish interiors. Residence of Royal family houses throne chamber, private meeting hall, a Durbar Hall to meet the public, a vaulted banquet hall, private dining halls, a ball room, a library, an indoor swimming pool and spa, a billiards room, four tennis courts, two unique marble squash courts and long passage. Museum exhibits 20th century history of the Royal family of Jodhpur with its well-stuffed collection.
