Vijaya Vilas Palace in Mandvi, Gujarat

Vijay Vilas Palace is well-known Palace located on sea-beach of Mandvi in Kutch of Gujarat. Earlier it was summer retreat for Jadeja Rajas of Kutch, but now is a residence of Royal family of Princely state of Kutch. The Palace was built during the region of Maharao Shri Khengariji III and constructed in between 1920-1929. The Palace is built from red sandstone with mixture of architect of different regions of India. Mostly it has elements of Rajput architecture such as central high dome on pillars, Bengal domes on sides, colored glass windows, carved Jalis of stone, intricate Jharokhas, chhatris and many other artifacts.

The Palace is set in midst of green lawns with water channels and marble fountains. The mansion houses a Chhatri of Vijayaraji, who died in 1948 and to him this Palace was very close. The Palace also houses a Museum. Vijaya Vilas Palace has its own private beach which offers air-conditioned tented accommodation.
