North Goa Travel Guide

North Goa is one of the districts of Goa State. North Goa is divided into three subdivisions – Panaji, Mapusa, and Bicholim. Five taluks are – Ilhas de Goa, Bardez, Pernem, Bicholim, and Sattari. Territory of North Goa was under the Kingdom of Sawantwadi. Hene these territories were considered as safe place for Hindus who were living under the fear of Portuguese. North Goa is wonderful site with many Beaches and several historical monuments. Beaches of North Goa stretches from the headland of Fort Aguada outside the Panji City and moves up north towards the border of Maharashtra. Major beaches which are most visited are :-

Vagator Beach - This beautiful beach is located about 22 Kms from Panaji and is situated in Bardez taluka. The crescent shape beach known for Sunburn and cracked rocks surroundings, this beach is one of the best North Goa attractions.
Anjuna Beach - It is nestled in Aravalli Hills about 18kms away from Panaji and is situated in Bardez taluka. This beach is known for its swaying palms, soft sands and natural beauty.
Calanguate Beach - It is the Queen of Beaches visited by numerous tourists. This large seven-kilometre sweep of sand located 15 kms away from Panaji.

And many such magnificent Beaches such as Sinquerim Beach famous for its adventurous memories, Candolim Beach which is peaceful and calm land of sand, Arambol Beach well-known for Bird watching and Mandrem Beach enjoyed with appealing views.
Along with Beaches North Goa boasts in several Sighseeing places such as Fort Aguada which was earlier houses of Portuguese and now changed into Jail. Mae De Deus, the Church having fine gothic architecture and intricate temples of Bogdeshwara that is must visited site.
